Women Mentoring Women
The purpose of Caltech's Women Mentoring Women (WMW) program is to provide support for Caltech undergraduate, graduate, and postdoc women as they negotiate their academic, professional, and personal development. *We use an inclusive definition of women, which includes trans women and is designed to be a feminine-centered space.
WMW has been such a successful program over its 16 going on 17 years at Caltech. In this unique moment of navigating multiple pandemics the CCID is adapting to create more support for more people. We will be expanding our mentoring efforts in the CCID through a new program called Compass which will offer meaningful mentoring connections that focus on the needs of women, LGBTQ, and URM students, staff, faculty, alums, postdocs, and JPL employees.
For a one to one mentoring match please sign up for our new program: Compass Mentoring
Each person will be paired with someone from Caltech or JPL for the year. We will provide materials, resources, and prompts to help you create a mutually beneficial relationship. We ask that by applying to be a mentee and/or mentor, you are willing to meet a minimum of 1 hour/month.
Women Mentoring Women will have a monthly mentoring group meet-up on relevant topics:
Topics will be sent monthly and the zoom space will be a non-preparation and lightly facilitated conversation. What does this mean? No need to read an article before coming or prepare what you want to say. It's really come as you are and discuss the topic at hand with a group. This will provide an opportunity for those in attendance to mentor each other. As the group grows, we'll move into smaller breakout rooms so everyone has a chance to share, exchange and learn from one another.
