In spring 2001, the President’s Office created a new working group on campus, entitled the Diversity Progress Group (DPG), which currently consists of representatives from 15 different offices and division. The Purpose of the DPG is to functions a working group on diversity strategic planning and assessment on campus. This year, it has undertaken a reexamination of the institute wide diversity goals or initiatives, as well as a close look at the strategies, objectives, assessment mechanisms, and benchmarks that follow from those goals.

Caltech proposals, internal reports, and on-going strategic plans on diversity are available to all members of the Caltech Community.

DPG reports on its work to ACODAMA. In fall 2001, the structure and membership of an existing committee, the Academic Committee on Diversity and Minority Affairs, was changed to become an administrative committee (still known as ACODAMA), which includes professional faculty from each of the six divisions, along with administrators and students, and reports directly to the president. The purpose of ACODAMA is to provide oversight of the diversity initiatives and bring them forward to the President and Faculty Board, and recommend other policy changes as appropriate.
