The Graduate Summer Research Institute (GSRI) provides a comprehensive program of orientation, academic support, and professional development designed to ease the transition into Caltech's graduate programs. GSRI is designed to introduce incoming underrepresented and/or underserved first-year graduate students to promote the value of graduate education; to improve the research enterprise through increased diversity; and to ensure these students thrive at Caltech.
Through effective programming focused on mentoring, professional development, and skills-based workshops, students will feel prepared to navigate their first year as a graduate student at Caltech. Students who participate in this program will be better prepared and motivated to pursue advanced degrees, thereby helping to sustain a rich talent pool in critical areas of research and innovation.
Remote 2020 Summer Program:
- A 1-week schedule of professional development workshops relevant to being a successful graduate student.
- A 1-week community/cohort building experience with other incoming graduate students.
- Opportunities to learn and engage in opportunities, resources, and programing offered on campus.
The 2020 dates for the Graduate Summer Research Institute were September 14-18, 2020. Details for Summer 2021 will be up shortly.
